Lyme Disease Treatment

Lyme disease is an infectious illness caused by the bacterium Borrelia burgdorferi, typically transmitted through the bite of an infected tick.

Many cases go undiagnosed or misdiagnosed, allowing the infection to progress into a more advanced stage known as late disseminated Lyme disease.

Complicating matters further, Lyme often occurs alongside other bacterial co-infections, leading to a wide range of persistent and often debilitating symptoms.

Could It Be Lyme?

The Diagnosis that’s Frequently Missed

Most people are not aware that chronic persistent Lyme disease exists. In a study, Alzheimer’s patients autopsied were infected with neuro-spirochetosis (the bacterium responsible for Lyme disease.) 90% of the time.

Today, many children test positive after years of being mislabeled with a behavioral disorder.

Sadly, some of the best medical centers in the country do not look for this disease, so patients never get diagnosed or treated appropriately.

Lyme Disease: A Nationwide Epidemic

Lyme disease has been reported in all 50 U.S. states and is increasingly recognized as a silent, growing epidemic.

In California alone, most counties have ticks that carry the Lyme-causing Borrelia bacteria.

Because Lyme can mimic many other conditions, it’s often overlooked or misdiagnosed.

The CDC estimates that actual cases may be 5 to 10 times higher than reported—likely affecting millions of people nationwide.

Common Symptoms of Lyme Disease

Early signs include flu-like symptoms and a bull's eye rash in about 50% of patients. When left undiagnosed for months or years, the bacteria can spread to the nervous system, tendons, joints, heart, and other organs resulting in a wide range of symptoms such as:

  • Fatigue that doesn’t improve with rest
  • Joint and muscle aches that move around the body
  • Brain fog or trouble concentrating
  • Chronic headaches or pressure in the head
  • Digestive issues like bloating, nausea, or food sensitivities
  • Sleep disturbances or unrefreshing sleep
  • Mood swings, anxiety, or depression
  • Sensitivity to light, sound, or chemical smells
  • Tingling, numbness, or strange nerve sensations
  • Weakened immune system or frequent infections
  • Hormonal imbalances or irregular cycles
  • Low body temperature or feeling cold often
  • Heart palpitations or irregular heartbeat
  • Neck stiffness or pain
  • Feeling “off” or like something is wrong even if labs are normal

Treatment for Lyme Disease

Conventional treatment for Lyme disease often starts with antibiotics to target the Borrelia burgdorferi bacterium. In many cases, a combination of medications is needed to fully address the infection.

At our clinic, we also employ advanced oxygen-based therapies—such as Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy (HBOT)—to enhance the body’s healing response and support deeper recovery.

We also incorporate dietary suggestions, targeted nutrition, and herbal tinctures to strengthen the immune system and support whole-body healing.

Lyme Disease & Oxygen Therapies

Lyme bacteria are microaerophilic, meaning they die in high oxygen environments. Hyperbaric oxygen therapy (HBOT) chambers are highly pressurized and can raise the body’s oxygen levels to ten times normal.

Increased oxygen levels kill bacteria, reduce pain, stimulate the immune system, increase energy, improve sleep, and reduce cognitive impairment in patients diagnosed with Lyme.

In most cases, patients using HBOT can discontinue antibiotics and other pharmaceuticals much sooner.
