Dr. Dara Thompson is a lifelong learner. She studied cell and molecular biology at The Massachusetts Institute of Technology, and immunology and ethnobotany at The University of California at Santa Cruz. She received her doctorate in naturopathic medicine at The National College of Naturopathic Medicine in Portland, Oregon. Dr. Thompson has post-graduate training in environmental medicine, IV therapy, and supportive care for cancer patients.
When explaining her approach, Dr. Thompson says, “As an ND, I treat each patient as a unique individual, emphasizing prevention and the root causes of illness. I use western medicine diagnostic methods in combination with a holistic and functional medicine approach. Simply put, I combine the newest evidence-based medicine with time-tested natural remedies in an integrated approach to help you recover from illness, prevent disease, and build stamina and focus.”
Dr. Thompson has been a naturopathic doctor for 12 years, and her passion for medicine continues to grow. Dr. Thompson is an excellent diagnostician and enjoys being a medical detective in complex cases. She has a naturopathic medical practice with an emphasis on genomic analysis, environmental medicine, cancer support, and longevity medicine.
Governor Edmund Jerry Brown appointed Dr. Thompson to the Naturopathic Medicine Committee of California in 2016.
In her spare time, Dr. Thompson enjoys cooking, gardening, and spending time with her twins.
